LaShonna Sherron Tapp, 51 of Durham, NC passed away on September 27 at Atrium Hospital, Charlotte, NC. She was born on March 12, 1972, in Durham, NC.
She attended Durham Public Schools, graduating from Hillside High School in 1990. She was a Certified Nurse’s Aide and worked for different agencies providing excellent patient care. She was dearly loved by her patients who appreciated the care and attention she provided. She worked as a server for Freshwater Restaurant in Charlotte, NC. Shonna was an avid reader. She loved cooking, entertaining and was always ready for the next party. She never met a stranger, and everyone was “her friend.”
Shonna was baptized at an early age at the White Oak Missionary Baptist Church in Apex, NC. She later joined Pilgrim Baptist Church in Durham, NC. She would attend the Cannan Christian Worship Center in Charlotte, NC during her stays in the city where she volunteered with the Ushers Ministry. She absolutely adored Pastor Sanders and would not think twice about calling him with any of her questions or concerns. In return, Pastor Sanders always made time for her.
To cherish her memory and mourn her loss, she leaves her mother, Alecia Tapp Mitchell, stepfather, Robert Mitchell and father, Bobby Douglas; one sister, Robynn Mitchell, two sons, Douglas Mayo-Tapp (Roxy), Lorenzo Mayo; four daughters, Tameka Wilds, Juanita Tapp, Shanice Perry, Shanae Perry, seven grandchildren, Tyree, Taylor, Leilani, Luca, Aleah, Demareo, and Master. She also leaves aunts and uncles, three nieces (Jasmine, Cadence, Charlize), three nephews (Jeremiah Ashawn, Jacob, Jonah), cousins, other family members and friends.
