Lettitia Hodges Obituary

Lettitia T. Hodges, 51 transitioned to her eternal place of rest on her favorite day of the week Sunday, February 18, 2024 at Duke Regional Hospital, Durham, North Carolina. On July 28, 1972, Lettitia came into the world blessing her parents, Beatrice Hodges and James Williams and everyone with her infectious personality.

She attended the Durham Public School system, graduating from her beloved Hillside High School in 1991. After graduating from high school, she attended Appalachian State University in Boone, NC.  Later in life, Lettitia obtained an Associate of Arts from University of Mount Olive.  She was employed in various roles of customer service employment, helping people in every way she could, whether family, friends or those in the community.

Lettitia was affectionately known as “Tish” by those who loved her.  She was a devoted and loyal mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, friend and sorority sister.  Her most beloved roles were mother, grandmother, and a soldier for the Lord.  She devoted all the time she could to serving at Now Church and spending time with her grandchildren.  Those who know her well, know her love for eating chicken wings.  She loved to eat chicken wings so much that she could be found frying and eating them sometimes as late as 3 am.

Lettitia loved God and was very proud to let anyone know. Witnessing and winning souls was where she thrived. She was a dedicated member of Now Church, Chapel Hill, NC from the very first day. She faithfully served in various capacities including as a greeter, assisting with baptisms, hospitality, and prayer teams.  She also loved being a part of her Christian sorority, Sigma Tau Sigma, Inc. No matter what role she played, she gave it her all. She had a huge heart made of gold.

Lettitia was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Thelma and Hugh Howell; her paternal grandmother Bertha Best; her aunt Dorrina White; and her uncles James Hodges and Herman Best.

The memory of her life will continue to be cherished and celebrated by her parents, Beatrice and Michael Robinson (bonus father), and James Williams, all of Durham, NC; her beautiful children Twiwan Joyner (Billicia), Durham NC, Javon Wilson, Seattle, WA, Tichon Bell,  Greensboro, NC and Joirdan Parker, Durham, NC;  two grandchildren, Zion and Adonis Joyner (who lovingly called her GiGi), both of Durham, NC; five loving sisters Demetria Craig (Robert), Burlington, NC, Candy Blackwell (Freddy), Hurdle Mills, NC, Tangeda McClary, Sanford, NC, Tomeka Hodges, Durham, NC, and Lakisha Torian (Shelton), Mebane, NC; paternal uncles Clarence Williams (Rachel), Durham, NC, Donnie Best, Raleigh, NC, and Dexter Best Durham, NC; maternal aunts & uncles Lenord Hodges and Ethel Mae Best, both of Goldsboro, NC, Hilda Elliott (John), Omaha, NE, Shirely Ann Kenion Pikeville, NC, Jimmy Leftwrige, Arizona, & Kenny Howell, Goldsboro, NC; a host of nieces and nephews who loved her dearly; a special great niece, Maliyah Kirby (who she affectionally called Lucy), best friend Ateena Williams (Derrick) and a lifelong friend, Cynric Bell.

She will truly be missed, but we can all rejoice for the time we had with her and cherish the memories we each made.
