Obituary

On March 29, 1970, Tiessiessie Townsend was the first born to Sadie Mae Dignard and Willie James Jenkins both of Jersey City, New Jersey.  Then, came her two brothers Andre Townsend and Marion Kennedy.  She was educated in the Jersey City Public School system.  Years later, Tiessiessie "China" had two children: son Shyron Deshon Townsend & daughter Erica Higgins.
For seven years, Tiessiessie was the Vice President of McDougald Terrace Apartments in Durham, North Carolina.  She assisted with the Durham parades and always prayed for those in need.  Tiessiessie was very upbeat.  She loved to laugh, draw, decorate and listen to music.  Music was very therapeutic to her.

Unfortunately, in the 2000's, Tiessiessie was diagnosed with Mental Illness.  Through her years of Mental Illness, Tiessiessie kept striving.  Until her last breath on February 5, 2023, Tiessiessie held on even after having Cardiac Arrest on January 22, 2023.

Tiessiessie leaves behind cherishing memories of her son: Shyron Townsend, daughter: Erica Higgins, two grandchildren: Justice Dash Townsend and Korrenthian Noah Brown, two brothers: Andre Townsend and Marion Kennedy, nephews and host of family and close friends.
